A Letter of Appreciation for the system of care around and within Hospitals.

I am lucky enough to have very few reasons to ever go to Hospital for myself. However so
far the system of care and the people within them have made an enourmous contribution
to my life.
Here are a list of people that I know and love deeply that have been cared for and in many
cases saved by the system of care around Hospitals.
As you read this list perhaps we can remember the many paramedics, nurses and doctors
that work every day for the survival and care of people within their influence.
1.Me - being born
2.My mother being cared for when I was born and when she had my brother also. Again
for my mother recently when she had a case of atrial fibrillation where her heart was
racing at about 180 bpm for over an hour.
3.My Father more than 3 times throughout his 3 bypass operations and various
encounters with Heart disease. He was literally saved the very first time he had a heart
attack by the fact that he was already in hospital.
4.My dear friend Greg - firstly for his encounter with a Hip operation, then Leukaemia then
Knee operations. One time in particular I visited Greg and he had no hair and appeared
to be dying at least to me. This was a moment when I felt I was saying goodbye with
great finality. The old War Hammer pulled through fortunately and now survives his poor
brother who died of cancer recently in Hospital also.
5.Bronson - who has been in hospital for long periods in his life. A combination of bone
conditions and car accidents aggrivated by degenerative process has meant long drawn
out stints in the white palace. Agan he has survived and used the power of his
considerable will to make all he can of his ailing body.
This is a significant list and overall I feel that when it is my turn I will have gleaned some of
these peoples wisdom in how I myself deal with the inevitable admission of myself into the
care and attention of a Hospital.
I bow to the considerable courage and dignity of the people here and can only hope my
response will be in kind.
Kind Regards
Herrin
