He entered the room a bit reluctant but secretly eager.
"Bubble baths are for girls!" he said.
And I laugh thinking how a big strong man's masculinity could be threatened by a few tiny bubbles.

Submerged up to my shoulders, I sank deeper into the sweet scented water.
"Oh come on get in! It's relaxing." I scooted over giving him room to slide into the bath. Beneath the bubbly surface our relaxed bodies touch. And warm frothy water splashed over the sides of the tub big enough for two.

The world melted away and time wrapped around us for a while. No jobs, no kids, no worries, just us. Remember US. Ahh my mind reminisces for a second and then gets sucked back into the moment. A sweet moment for sure.

I hear him singing some song I eventually recognized. It's nice to hear his deep voice echoing off the walls, reverberating through the depths of the water between us. I feel that sound on my skin.

"Don't go changing trying to please me...I love you just the way you are...." It's a Billy Joel song. And he knows I love it. There's a knowing smile between us.

Then a big bubble erupts from the depths. "Ewww! Did you fart!" I said.
He lifted up and proudly announced, "Yeah...and here is another one."

"Oh don't pollute the water!" I said faking disgust.
"I'm just adding some extra bubbles." He said looking even more comfortable.

He went into a rendition of Red Hot Chili Peppers, "Under the bridge" and then a U2 medley, "One", "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "Beautiful day".

I join in here and there singing off key and neither one of us knew all the words but it was fun.

The bubbles started to dissolve giving us glimpses underneath the surface.
Then he smiled at me,"So after this bath, you gonna make me eat some quiche? My friend said quiche is a woman thing."

"What? No it's not! Guys can eat quiche....and no quiche is not what I had in mind actually" I gave a suggestive smile. Which intrigued him for sure.

"See you like bubble baths don't you...admit it." I teased.
"Aaa well...It's ok. But actually I like what comes after the bath." He laughed and reached over to kiss me...

Amidst the warm waters and the space surrounding us, are the words we speak to each other, the songs we sing, the caresses we share and the farts that erupt spontaneously. Such are the quirky moments that touch our lives and connect us to the ones we love.
